Game design document draft with comments
Most of the improvements that I needed to improve were punctuation, grammar and consistency errors. Using the feedback I will improve my punctuation and consistency in order to make my design document to a professional standard.
To make sure that these problems do not happen again I will proof read my work for longer amounts of time and do so thoroughly this as a result will improve my skills with proof reading.

PDP final design
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwWNoSiMmBCLWXdGRWw0dTJHS0E/edit?usp=sharing
Using the feedback given I was able to complete most of the improvements that were stated in the PDP as a result my PDP is fully completed and is no longer in the stages of being a draft.
If I could do the PDP again I would include research as development goals and finally included tutor feedback.

Learning Styles Part 3 (M3)
There are many benefits to learning styles, they help us deal with situation in a way that makes it easy to learn and complete. When many people with different learning styles interact in a task they take different roles e.g. A pragmatist and a activist are most likely to do the physical work while the reflector and the theorist create a plan and give instructions.
Pragmatist: Learn by experimenting with tasks, usually down to earth and are practical and realistic with in tasks.
Reflector: Learn by spending a lot of time thinking about what they have to do to get a logical conclusion, they are also good listeners.
Activist: Learn by quickly starting a task/project and getting it done as quickly as possible they are also enthusiastic.
Theorist: Learn by asking questions and thinking and doing things logically they have a calm and rational approach to tasks.
I find that I am predominantly a Theorist and Pragmatists learner as I learn by following instructions as I work on a task, as I go and correct any mistakes that I may of made along the way, for example when we were tasked to create a bridge out of 10 pieces of paper and 10 pieces of tape I spent some of my time inspecting the draft model, some doing the construction, and some discussing a logical route to complete the task.

PDP Draft (P7, P8, M2, D2)
PDP
Feedback for draft PDP
Overall the quality of my PDP is great due to the fact I kept it up to date. However it is not yet complete so I must include all the hand in dates, set the each development goal in the chronological order, remove the examples on how to do the PDP on the top of the page and finally get my tutor to write feedback on the PDP. I will improve my PDP by getting more feedback from classmates and teachers, I can also improve the quality of my PDP by including research that I have learnt in my own time.
The feedback given has been useful, as it has told me what I need to do in order to get my PDP to a final completed standard.

My Game Pitch (P4, P5, P6,D1)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwWNoSiMmBCLVU1HN2ZzdUtoZFE/edit?usp=sharing
I made my pitch successful by...
I found that this was affective as it allowed me to connect different pieces of terminology and summarise them, it increased my amount of time in rehearsal so I was able to keep speaking without stutters of pauses it prevented me from quoting everything on the PowerPoint as a result made me look very professional by using my interpersonal skills.
As a result I was able to effectively communicate my information for my game pitch in a professional and interesting manner. However I was not sure on the definition of a terminological word however I was able to quickly and subtly correct my error when questions were asked about it. If I was improve on my pitch I would do more research into the definitions of the terminology I was not sure on.
In conclusion my pitch was very successful due to my effective use of my interpersonal skills and my ability to extend on bullet points included in my PowerPoint. However to make my pitch successful next time I need to remember the correct definition of the terminology.
I made my pitch successful by...
PowerPoint
My PowerPoint mainly consisted of pictures and short bullet points. With the pictures I explained there relevance to my pitch and used them to refer to other games. As for the bullet points I extended on them by using my wide knowledge of terminology to explain to the audience what will be included in my game.I found that this was affective as it allowed me to connect different pieces of terminology and summarise them, it increased my amount of time in rehearsal so I was able to keep speaking without stutters of pauses it prevented me from quoting everything on the PowerPoint as a result made me look very professional by using my interpersonal skills.
Interpersonal Skills
Using my interpersonal skills I was able to look and sound enthusiastic towards the audience I did this by keeping eye contact and using hand gestures in order to prove my point. This allowed my audience to keep interest in my game pitch. I was also able to summarise all the important terminology in a way that made sense. I also spoke slowly and clearly which allowed my audience to get all the important information. As a result I was able to effectively communicate my information for my game pitch in a professional and interesting manner. However I was not sure on the definition of a terminological word however I was able to quickly and subtly correct my error when questions were asked about it. Using Software to help communicate effectively (P5)
There are many kinds of software that can be used to communicate effectively. A example of this is Voice Over Internet Protocol or "VOIP"
VOIP: Is a software that allows you to make phone calls and text people all over the world using the internet free of charge, using a microphone web cam or any kind of keyboard. Examples of VOIP communication software are Skype, TeamSpeak and Ventrillo.
All three of these communication applications involve communication a lot like a phone call except all three of them include a instant message, however Skype includes video chat when the other two are audio dependent.
Skype: Is a multi purpose Voice Over Internet Protocol as it includes video chat, regular audio chat and instant messaging. Skype can be used in work places to communicate information quickly and effectively, it also can be useful if the business includes over seas branches and can be useful if you need to arrange a meeting without having to pay for travel.
Ventrillo: Is a audio and text based VOIP software. Ventrillo can be useful for teams of personal who have separate work spaces and have to travel to each over to find out information, as a result they can quickly join the Ventrillo server the department is based on and share information quickly and effectively.
TeamSpeak: Is also a audio and text based VOIP software. Unlike Ventrillo Team Speak's servers include a number of channels which can be used to assign channels to specific departments so workers and quickly communicate problems or information to a help desk manager who then will get the problem solved or answer or log the information.
VOIP software's can be useful in a work place effectively as you are able to share information to a variety of people at the same time using either text, audio and video.
However VOIP is only available with the use of technology e.g. computers and mobiles as they are compatible with VOIP software.
In conclusion Voice Over Internet Protocol is very useful for personal and business use as it is able to quickly share information quickly and effectively with no cost unlike phone calls.

Learning Styles Part 2 (M3)
We were tasked to create a circular chain out of a piece of A4 paper in which I was paired with a visual learner while I was both a visual and a kinaesthetic learner.
We found it difficult to read the instructions as none of us were auditory learners and we found it difficult to understand exactly what the instructions meant. As a result I left it to my partner as they thought they had an idea of what we were doing and as a result we ended up creating something completely different (A mask).
In conclusion I felt that I needed a auditory learner to help clarify what the instructions meant so that I could do the instructions bit by bit with clarification.

House Styles on Microsoft word (P5)
Introduction
We were tasked with improving a flawed design document, so that it had a house style, so as a result looked more professional.Changes
Firstly I separated the title from the paragraph of text, made it bigger, bold and underlined it. I then made the title bigger and changed its font to size 24 Cambria ( Title). Then I finally changed the colour of the title to a dark blue so it looked different to the sub headings. With the sub headings I also separated it from the text from the paragraph made it bigger and bold compared to the paragraph text. To make it look different to the title is used a different font which was Arial (Heading 3) and coloured it light blue.
With the text I changed the font to Calibri size 12 as its easier to read for people with dyslexia.
With the paragraph, I separated it into five different paragraphs, so it looked neater and also each paragraph had a different topic to talk about, so I had to separate them. I also justified the paragraphs so it stayed consistency for the walls of text.

Game design document Metal Gear Solid 2 (M2)
We were tasked with looking at some design documents from a forum. Me and Adrian decided that we would evaluate Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty. We were then tasked with looking at the design documents and evaluating what we thought was good and bad about them, also if we felt that it was a professional design document.
Pro's
Firstly I liked how on some pages it referred with page numbers to previous pages, as it supported what their intentions towards the game were and can reminds the reader that the two pages are relevant to one another, it also gives them a lot more information on what they are reading.
It keeps the same text consistency of heading and then content which helps the reader guide their way down each page.
Uses clear page numbers so the reader can go through the design document in chronological order
Cons
It does not include a contents page which makes it difficult to go through and and find a particular page.
Some of the paragraphs on the page go over to the other page rather than being all on one paragraph making it look very messy and unprofessional.
It contains no pictures what so ever even thought its a sequel it could of used some of the art work from the previous game to prove their point and remind people what some things in the game are.
Conclusion
In conclusion I find that the Design document look very boring and unprofessional as it contains no pictures even thought its a sequel, its paragraphs run over the pages making the document look like a mess, and finally it does not include any kind of contents pages which is usually a convention of most design documents as it is what you usually find in most design document out there

Learning Styles (M3)
Learning styles Questionnaire
We were tasked with filling in a learning styles questionnaire, so that we could understand what is our most effective way of learning in class. The follow says that i am a auditory learner. However i feel that i learn a lot more visually as I find that this questionnaire makes assumptions on talking to friend and listening to music as I find that it enjoyable in my free time rather than seeing it as relevant to my learning.

Its important that people have a awareness of your learning style as it makes it more effective in teaching people through their specific learning style as it help them remember terminology and it helps them remember more over a long term of time.

Barriers and solutions to effective communication (P3 M1)
Introduction
Recently we have been learning about communication barriers that may cause potential problems to effective communication and how you can solve these problems. As a result I have a bigger understanding of what communication barriers could come from the following categories.
Physical
A physical impairment could be that the potential employee could have a hearing impairment making communication difficult as the employee might not be able to hear you or may hear some of the conversation making it hard for them to understand. A solution to this is you could speak a little louder and face them at all times which gives them the chance to lip read.
Language
A Language barrier you could encounter could be that the person your interviewing may have a strong regional accent or English is their second language which could be difficult to understand. A solution to this is you could ask them to speak a little slower and ask them to repeat words that just can't quite understand or in extreme cases you may have to use a translator.
Perceptual
One perceptual barrier that could cause a future problem in a interview is if someone has a hidden agenda for example the interviewer could be offering large benefits and incentives to get you to join the company however in reality it hasn't materlised as quickly as expected . To solve this issue you would check your contract and also talk to your manager about the matter and if you failed to get anymore information you would visit your human resources department.
Cultural
A barrier to communication through culture could be that a custom of welcoming someone could be different in other countries, for example in some Asian countries to welcome someone is a bow. As a result you could create a awkward environment where your hand is still out ready receive a handshake to welcome them and they bow. To solve this you could research about the persons cultural background and customs.
Mental/Emotional
An emotional barrier that you could encounter could be that the person your talking to is stressed, as a result of this they may not be listening to what your saying or they maybe distracted with their own problem. To solve this problem you could ask them what's wrong and try to listen to what their problem is, as a result this may calm them down as they may of kept the stress inside for a while, after that you can continue to say what were saying as you have calmed them down slightly.

Effective Communication (P2)
Understanding the
principles of effective communication
Introduction
I have recently learnt about effective communication techniques that can help make communication more effective, informative and beneficial to both parties. As a result I learnt about the following skills and how they make communication effective. I particularly found use of technology interesting as I never knew that people find it easier learn things if you show them using computers.
General communication skills
Terminology: Depending on people you talk to,
some people may not have a large knowledge of technology terminology as
yourself so as a result it’s better to turn away from full jargon speech or
explain in basic what the terminology means and here from their point of view
on what the problem is.
Use of technology: If you’re trying to solve a problem
you can use technology to your advantage for example you can use PowerPoint to
create flow charts that show the person you talking to what went wrong and how
you can fix this if the problem arises once more.
Interpersonal skills
Active engagement: I find that when I talk to most
people you get a lot more information out of them and enthusiasm when you
engage yourself in what their saying with simple nods of understanding or
strong head nods to show absolute agreement in what they are saying.
Speed of response: Is very important as it shows that,
either you the listener are listening to what the person is saying or if the
roles in a conversation are switches, as for one that it shows that you are
listening and that you do know what they are talking about and you know what
they are talking about because if you remain quite after the person is speaking
finished they will think that you were either not listening or you don’t
understand, that is why it is important to be able to instantly respond to what
the speaker has said.
Communicate in writing:
Emoticons: Emoticons are useful because when
people communicate informally using text it lacks emotion and most things can
be miss interpreted for example sarcasm “Ohh my day was wonderful!” could be
interpreted as being positive however emoticons show exactly what you’re
feeling or what other are feeling with cartoon faces J.
Proof reading: It’s important that you proof read
your work, as if you’re applying for a job or writing a message to a friend
they may read sentences that make no sense or contain way too many spelling
mistakes or even missing punctuation making interpretation or reason for the
message difficult to understand.
Personal attributes favoured by employers (P1)
Employable attributes
Specific attributes
Technical skill and knowledge: Knowing what you doing is the most important
attribute because going into a job with no knowledge of what your doing is
impossible and most likely would get you fired quickly so all employers like to
make sure that the person they are employing knows what they are doing in their
job field.
Health and safety procedures: Following procedure when dealing specific
component or computer, for example carrying a computer you will need steel cap
work boots to protect your feet in case of an object falling on it. All
employers need a person who is competent with the employers health safety
regulations.
General attributes
Time management: Being able to deadline your team to do specific
roles till a specific time so every member knows what they are doing. Most
employers like this because they want someone who one is not lazy, and two able
to get work done on time.
Planning skills: Being able to plan what your doing or what other
employees are supposed to do is important, because if your able to plan what's
going to happen in a day work usually gets done more efficiently and everyone
knows what your doing even your employers.
Attitude attributes
Hard working: Employers usually keep people in their job and
increase their salaries if they show
that they can work hard and even having ability to do more than the employer
asks for.
Dependable: Its important to be dependable for your employer,
because if you get work done well in a
particular field or the employer entrusts you with something they don't
usually trust other people to do it usually means that they find you useful and
indispensable.
Introduction
I first disassembled and reassembled a PC in 2011 for my work experience, in which I worked at Winchester College with my brother in the IT support department. I felt that every PC I disassembled and reassembled was good work and I enjoyed doing and as a result I wanted to get a job that involved computers. I started in Fareham College doing media, however I felt that if you wanted a job in media you would have to constantly advertise yourself to unknown employers who would use you part time, however I was more interested in getting a full time job which I felt IT could give me.
Presently i'm doing a Gaming and Computing course, in order to get my IT practitioners degree, in which I will be aiming to get a distinction, as a result I get closer to getting a job as a IT support team manager.
I'm hoping in the future to go to university and study IT so that it make me more employable and gives me a higher chance of getting a higher salary however first I need to get a distinction over all in my Gaming and computing course. After University I will search for a job in IT support management or standard IT support so I can work up to getting my dream job.
